About PCMech

PCMech (formerly called PC Mechanic) is about computers and technology. We define "PC" a little more broadly. Yes, PC stands for personal computer. Much of our content is about personal computers. But, since we first launched, technology has evolved and now there is so much more to talk about than just computers. So, we cover technology. We cover the internet. We cover - yes - computers, hardware, software, etc. Our job is to cover the fast-changing world of tech and help you apply it to improving your life. Technology shouldn't be limited to the uber-geeks who follow this stuff 24/7. At PCMech, we'll do that so you don't have to.

Why is PCMech Worth My Time?

Because we like to think we're a little different. We work to bring the world of technology to the "normal" people. Not geeks and nerds and people who understand all the technical stuff. We talk about the technical stuff, but we try our hardest to talk about it in a REAL fashion, from a practical perspective of a real-world user. So, we don't get overly technical unless we have to. We won't waste your time with arcane benchmarks and trying to eek out 4 frames per second more out of a video card. These things aren't really that important and there are other sites that already do that so well. What is important? Bringing the world of technology to people who just want to use it.

Meet David Risley

I am a professional blogger in the field of technology. My job is to introduce people to new technology and/or new ways to use existing technology. I am a geek, online entrepreneur, book author, consultant and technology enthusiast. I am a tech evangelist who uses the Internet as the platform for spreading knowledge. I have been at this for over 10 years and have been fortunate enough to do it professionally. I have become an expert in the fields of blogging, social media, online marketing and traffic generation. My sites reach around 300,000 people per month, generating over a million page views monthly. I am the author of two books: "Build Your Own PC" and "Build Your Own Network". My background is in information systems and web development, with a focus on PHP and MySQL development. My goals are to continue to introduce people to how computers and technology can enrich their lives. I also aim to teach people how they can put it all to use to improve their financial lives. My company is PC Media. You can also follow me on my personal blog. And feel free to connect with me on Twitter, FriendFeed, Facebook and LinkedIn. I don't run PCMech alone. I brought on a team of writers, both regular and periodic, who are spread throughout the United States and the United Kingdom. Sometimes we also get support from other sites who also appreciate our work, like the guys from this web hosting review place.
